An eighth inning home run by John Brontsema was all of the offense that the Boulders could muster, as Quebec starter Karl Gelinas quieted the Rockland bats to pick up a 2-1 decision for the Capitales on Sunday afternoon at Stade Canac in Quebec City, Canada.
Boulders starter Brett Schneider (0-1) took the hard-luck loss for the visitors, as he pitched five innings, giving up only three hits and a run, while walking one and striking out five. Karl Gelinas (1-1) picked up the win for Quebec, working eight innings and surrendering just two hits and a run, while walking one and striking out nine Rockland batters. Dustin Molleken came on in the ninth for the Capitales to lock down the game and pick up his third save of the season.
The final game of this four-game series will take place on Memorial Day, Monday in Quebec with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.
Collin Ferguson's two-out RBI single, which scored Ryne Birk and broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning, was enough to give the Rockland Boulders a 5-4 victory over the Quebec Capitales at Stade Canac in Quebec City, Canada on Saturday night. Rockland has now won two straight and three of their last four.
The Boulders bats produced ten hits on the evening, including multi-hit games by Ferguson (2-for-5), Grant Heyman (2-for-4), Adam Ehrlich (2-for-4, 2B) and Ryne Birk (2-for-3, HR).
The Rockland bullpen was stellar as Tim Ponto, James Mulry, Nick Kennedy and Robbie Gordon combined to throw five scoreless innings, giving up just one hit and one walk while striking out five. Mulry picked up his first win of 2019, while Gordon notched his first save of the season. Reliever Max Kuhns took the loss for Quebec.

Adam Ehrlich went 3-for-3 with a home run to lead the Rockland Boulders to a 3-1 victory over the Quebec Capitales at Stade Canac in Quebec City, Canada. Ehrlich, who played for the Capitales for the past three seasons, tied the score at 1-1 with a second-inning solo shot and added an RBI double in the fourth as the visitors pushed across the decisive runs.
Starter Pasquale Mazzoccoli allowed his lone run just two batters into the game but was outstanding from there, allowing just the one run on three hits in 6.0 innings of work. Jake Zokan came on to earn the save, with Quebec starter Matt Marsh absorbing the loss.
Friday's game was the first of Rockland's seven-game Canadian trek which includes three more in Quebec, with Saturday's game slated for a 6:05 pm start.
