March 19 - Re-signed OF Mike Montville. The popular outfielder enters his third professional season, all with the Boulders. He has shown some pop both on and off the field in his Rockland tenure. Mike has rocked 24 homers and 98 RBI overall, and also showed off his musical chops with a post-game concert last season. Details on THAT return engagement have yet to be determined.
March 14 - Acquired RHP Kagen Hopkins from Schrumburg (Frontier League) for a player to be named later. The right-hander has played each of his past three seasons with the Boomers, recording a string of over 20 consecutive scoreless innings in 2016, and posting a 9-5 record last season.
March 8 - Signed RHP Mayckol Guaipe. The flame-throwing righty made 26 appearances for the Seattle Mariners in 2015 and '16 and has his sights set on working his way back to The Show. He was dominant in the closer's role last season, with a 3-0 record, 14 saves, and 31 strikeouts in a campaign that included a stint with Veracruz in the AAA-level Mexican League.
March 6 - Signed 1B Danny Canela. A 2009 draft selection of the Detroit Tigers, Canela batted .284 with 15 homers and 65 RBI for River City of the Frontier League in 2015.
March 5 -Signed Ryan Deemes (see transaction of February 26).
February 28 - Traded SS Mike Fransoso to Somerset (Atlantic League) for future considerations.
Febuary 26 - Traded 2B Dylan Tice to Sugar Land (Atlantic League) for RHP Ryan Deemes. A 2015 selection of the Houston Astros, Deemes has played the past three seasons in their system, amassing an impressive 10-1 record with a 2.86 ERA and striking out 120 batters in 135 innings while splitting time at the A+ and AA levels.
February 23 - Cody Regis re-signs with Boulders. The hard-hitting third baseman spent his first two professional seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks system. After shaking off an early-season injury, Cody provided a strong left-handed bat in the Boulders lineup a year ago, hitting 14 homers and driving in 58 runs while batting .299 in 78 games played.
February 17 - Boulders sign pitcher Markus Solbach. The popular right-handed pitcher has signed to return to Rockland for his third season. Overall, he has a 17-6 record over the past two seasons, including an 11-4 mark with a 3.60 ERA last season.
February 21 - Signed John LaRossa, RHP, graduate from the University of Hartford.
February 15 - Acquired the rights to shortstop Christopher Riopedre from the Frontier League in exchange for a player-to-be-named later. The Miami native attended East Tennessee State University and was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 23rd round of the 2014 MLB Draft.
February 9 - Named Marcus Nidiffer as pitching coach. Nidiffer will also return to the active roster in a catcher/DH capacity. Story Here.
