Boulders Brave Blizzard and Make "Right" Decision

A blizzard of signings continued on the heels of the return of 2015 Baseball America Independent Player of the Year Joe Maloney as the Rockland Boulders announced today the signings of two right-handed pitchers- Matt Kostalos and Mike Adams.

Adams, 22, played for the Boulders last season, appearing in sixteen games, going 5 – 6, with a 5.86 ERA, pitching 66 innings and giving up eighty five hits, with thirty seven walks and thirty strikeouts.  The Wagner College alum also boasted a .933 fielding % with only 1 error in the field all of last season.

Kostalos, 22, will be returning to the Boulders in 2017, after appearing late in the 2016 season.  During his time with the Boulders, Kostalos appeared in nine regular season games, going 1 – 1 pitching 19.1 innings, giving up four runs on eleven hits and striking out nineteen, with a 0.46 ERA.  During the playoffs, Kostalos appeared in seven games, going 1 – 0 with a 6.75 ERA.  Before joining the Boulders, the Staten Island native and St. Thomas Aquinas alum had a terrific senior season in 2016 with the Spartans, appearing in fourteen games, thirteen of which were starts.  In his fourteen games, Kostalos was 8-0, pitching 98.2 innings, with hundred and eight strikeouts, and compiling a 1.46 ERA, earning him an ABCA/Rawlings All-American Second Team Award, as well as being named the East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year & First Team All Conference selection.  Kostalos also was named the Conference Commissioner's Association - Division II First Team All-East Region Selection, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association - Division II Second Team All-America & First Team All-East Region Selection, the East Region Pitcher of the Year & East All-Region First Team Selection, a Division II Baseball News 2016 Brett Tomko Award Semifinalist, and a Hero Sports 2016 Division II Baseball Fan Choice Award Runner-up.
