Boulders Announce “Junior Broadcaster” Competition

Winner to Call Game with Voice of the Boulders

(POMONA, NY) – The Rockland Boulders announced today the start of the 2016 Junior Broadcaster Competition, presented by the NY529 College Savings Program Direct Plan. Submissions for the competition will be open from now until Friday, August 19 with the top three competing live on the air as part of the Boulders Broadcast Network.

Seth Cantor, the “Voice of the Boulders” and the team’s Assistant General Manager, is enthusiastic about this contest, “What an extraordinary opportunity aspiring broadcasters in our area who want to pursue a career in this industry. We had a terrific pool of contestants last year and I’m looking forward to seeing what this year’s crop has to offer!”

Aspiring broadcasters can enter by emailing Seth and Contestants will be asked to provide their Name, Age, City/State, and a short essay explaining why they want to be a broadcaster. Kids ages 7-14 are eligible for the competition, with the grand prize including an opportunity to join Seth on the Boulders Broadcast Network, during the 2016 season.

Three finalists will be announced on Monday, August 22 with each competitor being invited to call one inning of color commentary during a game with the “Voice of the Boulders” as part of Rockland’s final homestand of the year. Each finalist will also receive a commemorative Boulders prize pack, while throwing out the ceremonial first pitch on the date they will broadcast. The winner will be invited back on another 2016 broadcast with the chance of calling play-by-play.

Submissions will be accepted until close of business on Friday, August 19 with the top three finalists being notified by Monday, August 22. The Boulders Broadcast Network broadcasts all 55 Rockland Boulders home games live on radio, with select road games included. This season once again included all games being shown on for free.
