POMONA, N.Y.--- The roar of excited fans echoed through Palisades Credit Union Park as The Rockland Boulders swept the series, winning their third and final game against the Ottawa Champions.
The Boulders have won all three of their games played against the Ottawa Champions this week, making this their fourth consecutive win at Palisades Credit Union Park.
Markus Solbach brought the heat in the first and second innings for the Boulders, pitching two consecutive 1-2-3 innings, retiring the first six batters for Ottawa.
Alex DeBellis got the first hit of the game for the Boulders in the second inning, which was a single, but Ottawa’s Pitcher, Austin Chrismon, got Riley Palmer to fly out to center, ending the inning.
The game started to come alive during the bottom of the third inning when Luis Parache advanced to first after an error by Ottawa's second baseman, Albert Cartwright and then proceeded to steal second to take the upper hand.
Parache continued to strive, scoring the first run of the game after a wild pitch. This was the fifth run the Boulders have scored in the last two games from wild pitches by Ottawa.
The bottom of the third continued to stay hot when Jared McDonald scored another run for the Boulders giving them a 2-0 lead, after a sacrifice fly out to center field by Junior Arrojo.
The Champions quickly flipped on the switch during the top of the fourth when Sebastian Boucher brought in a run for Ottawa to close up the gap, making the score 2-1.
Solbach showed off his skills by striking out the side in the top of the fifth inning, and an RBI from Brian Ragira in the bottom of the fifth inning allowed Arrojo to extend the Boulders lead to 3-1.
During the sixth inning Solbach added to his strike outs making it seven K’s after striking out Kenny Bryant and Boucher, while allowing no runs to be scored and only one hit.
DeBellis scored the final run of the game during the bottom of the eighth inning after a single from Palmer making the final score 4-1 Rockland.
With no off days, the Rockland Boulders will travel to the Stade Municipal in Quebec, Canada to take on the Quebec Capitales for the first time this season in a 3-game series. The game is scheduled for Friday, May 27th, and the first pitch will be thrown at 7 p.m.
