Active International and the Rockland Boulders today announced the 2012 Active International/Rockland Boulders Charity Challenge.

 

The program picks up where last year’s successful in-ballpark fund raising promotion left off, with local non-profits benefitting from fundraising activities during a particular game and then seeing those funds raised matched by the Charity Challenge.

 

The non-profits, which are chosen by Active International, will come from a pool of applying, Rockland-based organizations. The 2012 Charity Challenge beneficiaries will represent a combination of repeating and first time participants. The application is available to non-profits online.

 

“We are extremely pleased to be joining with the Rockland Boulders for the second year of this community-based program,” said Joe Allen, Senior Vice President of Community Affairs.  “Active continues to maintain that the business and the private sector have a partnership that is vital to the well being of our community. The Charity Challenge and our partners, The Rockland Boulders, provide an excellent opportunity to work on behalf of people in Rockland County.”

 

The Charity Challenge will run the length of the season and will feature 12 games instead of the 10 held a year ago. Funds raised through the sale of merchandise, donations, portions of concession sales where applicable, ticket promotions and online donations will be part of the Charity Challenge match.   At the conclusion of the season, the organization raising the most funds will be awarded a second donation and will be the winner of the Charity Challenge.

 

“The Rockland Boulders join Active International in the goal of serving our community in need,” said Ken Lehner, President of the Rockland Boulders. “During our inaugural season, we worked with many excellent charities throughout our community and the Charity Challenge gives us the opportunity to work closer with many of them.”

 

An organization wishing to participate in the Rockland Boulders Active International Charity Challenge should fill out the application found on the Rockland Boulders website and submit it prior to the deadline of February 5^th. The 12 non-profits included in the 2012 Charity Challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.
