What will be the best part about the new ballpark?
The memories that will be made over the course of the next several decades as families, friends and neighbors attend games together. Fans across the country with hometown teams already know that taking their family to the ballpark to see America’s pastime is a magical experience creating a unique tie that bonds fathers and sons - mothers and daughters - grandparents and grandchildren.Where do the players come from?
Due to territorial rights that the New York Mets, New York Yankees and Hudson Valley Renegades have over Rockland County, we cannot place a minor league affiliated team here. As a result, we plan on building an independent minor league team instead. The CanAm League Bylaws state that the roster limit is 22 players. Of those players a maximum of four may be veterans and a minimum of five must be rookies. Thus, we can sign ex-Major League Baseball players, as well as, local college players from St. Thomas, Dominican and or Rockland Community College who do not get drafted. How much do the players get paid?
The salary cap in the Can-Am League is just shy of $100,000 per season. If you do not include the large sums of money that drafted players get for signing
bonuses, single A baseball players make about the same amount of money per month as independent players.
Do independent baseball players ever make it to the Major Leagues?
Daniel Nava recently worked his way up thru independent baseball to the Boston Red Sox and hit a grand slam this season on the first Major League pitch he ever saw. He is just the second player in MLB history to hit a grand slam in their first at bat. Meanwhile, an average of 10 CanAm League players per season get signed by Major League Baseball teams.
What is Rockland Boulders Baseball?
Rockland Boulders Baseball is an expansion independent minor league baseball team that will begin play in May 2011 with their home opener on June 16th at Provident Bank Park near Exit 12 of the Palisades Parkway in Pomona, NY. Expected to enhance the rich baseball history in the New York City region, Rockland Baseball will be part of the fastest growing family sport in America. More than 50 million fans attend minor league baseball games each season. How will the schedule of Team games and Town events be determined?
Rockland Boulders Baseball will host approximately 50 games per season comprised of exhibition, regular and post season contests. The majority of the other 35 dates will be used for practice. For example, 15 of the 35 days are for pre-season practice, which will take place in the morning or early afternoon still leaving the ballpark available for an evening event. After the team’s home games are determined, the Town will begin to schedule a wide variety and extensive number of additional events. These events will include, but not be limited to college and high school baseball games plus community events and or concerts. In addition, there will be a community room that is available for special events on a year round basis. In the lease there will be a provision to schedule events in the best interests of maximizing revenues for the Town. Thus, if the Town wants to hold prime dates in advance for something such as the Maccabbi Games in 2012, they will be able to do so.Will my taxes go up because of the ballpark being constructed?
There are no new taxes associated this project. When can fans purchase tickets?
We anticipate a season ticket deposit campaign commencing in September. When a fan makes a deposit they will be assigned a priority number which will determine the order in which season ticket holders eventually get to pick out their seat locations. What will the ticket prices be?
Ticket prices will average $10 a piece, which is less than the cost of going to an Opening Weekend movie. When is Opening Day at Provident bank Park?
The date is June 16, 2011 against the Brockton Rox.What will the traffic conditions be like on a game night?
The ingress and egress to the ballpark was designed with a mile plus queuing area by using Fireman's Boulevard and the access roads to the parking lots. A DOT traffic study concluded 60,000 cars a day pass the Palisades Interstate Parkway at Exit 12. We are anticipating approximately 1,000 cars per game which is less than a two percent increase in volume on the PIP. The improvements to the roads and lights once fans exit the PIP will more than handle the increase in volume. The entire traffic report for the ballpark can be found online at the Town’s website at www.ramapo.org.If there is an emergency during a game will the emergency personnel at the Fire Training Center be effected?

The gates at Provident Bank Park open 60 minutes before the games from Monday to Thursday, and 90 minutes before the first pitch on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. What team will be playing at Provident Bank Park?
The application for an expansion team in the CanAm League has been submitted and is currently being reviewed by the Commissioner and the Board of Directors. This is a formality as the deal points have already been agreed to. An official announcement will be made in the next 45 to 60 days. How much money are the owners investing?
The agreement calls for an annual lease payment of upwards of $1,000,000 per year.
In addition, the team is contributing $1,000,000 to the ballpark construction fund, while also incurring the expense of securing the expansion franchise. Meanwhile, we are budgeting annual operating expenses of approximately $3,000,000. This recurring investment will be spent in the local economy year after year benefiting local businesses. When you multiply the team’s annual expenditures over the life of our 20 year contractual commitment, we anticipate investing in excess of $82 million dollars into the economy of the Town of Ramapo and County of Rockland.
